Reproductive , Maternal , Newborn , Child Health And Adolescent Health (RMNCH + A) Services

Under this through support from the National Health Mission, the focus is given on universal coverage of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) services including institutional delivery, emergency obstetric care, safe abortions, family planning services and adolescent health services in the State in co-ordination with ICDS Department through AWW sin the Field level.




Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics And Neonatal Care Centres (CEMONC)

In order to provide emergency and quality antenatal care as well as to provide improved access to skilled obstetric care, prioritized health care facilities by providing additional inputs such as human resource,, training etc., CEmONC services are being offered in the State for which Monthly review meeting is held during third Thursday at the District Level, in which DPO is a member for effective co-ordination.



National Deworming Day

Biannual Deworming to the Community beneficiaries is being done through the A WWs in the Field level with the Support of VHNs in the Field level for reduction of anaemia prevalence by elimination of worm load in the Community.



Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fornight

Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) consists of a set of activities implemented in an intensified manner for prevention and control of deaths due to dehydration from diarrhoea across the State . These activities mainly included intensification of advocacy & awareness generation activities for diarrhoea management, strengthening service provision for diarrhoea case management, establishment of ORS-Zinc comers, prepositioning of ORS by ASHA/ AWWs / VHNs in households of under-five children and awareness generation activities for hygiene and sanitation.



Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation (WIFS)

The programme involves distribution of one Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) tablet a week to all adolescent girls and boys (10 to 19 years of age), both in school and out of school along with biannual de-worming (February and August every year). The IFA and de-worming tablet is distributed through the school for school going students and through AWWs for non-school going girls and boys.



Home Based New Born Care (HBNC) & Home Based Care of Young Child (HBYC)

In order to prevent Home deaths of Infant and Under 5 Children, Home visits are being provided by the ASHA/ A WWS and VHN in the field level to ensure their survival in the State. HBYC is being rolled out in the 2 Pilot Districts namely Ramnad and Virudhu Nagar Districts with the Involvement of AWWs to reduce IMR and Under 5 Mortality Rate in the State.



National Immunization Programme

All the Vaccines as per National Immunisation Schedule are given to the target beneficiaries through VHN by effective mobilisation of the Infant/ Children/ Pregnant women by the concerned AWW sin the field & House hold.



SNCU Discharge Babies Follow Up

Sick New born babies /Malnourished Children discharged from the SNCU are being followed up regularly by the concerned AWW & CDPO towards their well being/ Weight gain.



Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) & District Early Intervention Centre (DEIC) Review

Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), an innovative and ambitious initiative, which envisages Child Health Screening and Early Intervention Services, a systemic approach of early identification and link to care, support and treatment. Children in the age group from birth to eighteen years including the newborn and those attending Angawadi Centers and Government schools are benefitted through this programme. Yearly twice, all the AW Cs are being visited by the Block level RBSK teams for screening and referral of Anganwadi Children.



Nutrition Rehabilitation Centre (NRC) Activities Review

Nutrition Rehabilitation Center (NRC) is a health facility where children with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) are admitted and managed. NRC is found to be effective in decreasing the prevalence of wasting and stunting. This has been scaled up from two NRCs at Dharmapuri Medical College Hospital and Perambalur District Head Quarters Hospital to four additional NRCs at ICH, Egmore; Tirunelveli Medical College Hospital, Madurai Medical College Hospital and Tiruvannamalai Medical College Hospital. Follow up of the discharged Children is also carried out to ensure adequate nutrition in the home. All the related activities are being reviewed at the State level with Stakeholders including District Programme Ofiicers from the concerned 6 Districts.



Village Health Sanitation And Nutrition Day And Village Health Water Sanitation And Nutrition Committee

Village Health Sanitation and Nutrition Day is being celebrated during every Friday and is a major Community Based Event as per POSHAN Abhiyaan activities. VHWSNC is constituted with VHN, local panchayat president, representative of SHGs and A WW as a member in the committee. There are 15,015 VHWSNC in Tamil Nadu. This ensure, that community monitoring is also a part of this activity



High Risk Mother Tracking

Ante Natal Mothers with High risk symptoms are being tracked in the field level by the concerned A WW and VHN for early diagnosis and referral for complications during labour process.



Monthly Review Meeting of ICDS Staff With Block Medical Officer

Every month during Second Tuesday, a convergence review meeting is being held in the Block Medical Office for effective convergence of Maternal and Child Health activities in the Field Level between Health and ICDS & Infant Staffs.



Community Based Maternal And Infant Death Audit by District Collector

All the maternal & infant deaths happened in the District is being reviewed by the District Collector chaired Maternal / Infant Death Review Committee in which concerned DPO, CDPOs are participating towards preventing such deaths in the future by effectively co-ordinating with the Community and Health Department Staffs.



Nutrition Exhibition During Special Medical Camps / Health Mela

All the Nutritious Food and recipes are being displayed and Nutrition Education given during the Special Medical Camps/Health Mela in the Block level activities in co-ordination with Health Department personnel.



Community Based Maternal & INF And Death Audit Through Video Conference At State Level

All the Maternal & Infant Death happened in the Community is being reviewed monthly at the State level through Video Conference in which CDPOs and concerned AWWs are participating along with Health Department Staff in order to avert such deaths in the future.

All the Maternal Death happened in the Institutions especially in the Medical College Hospitals/ CEmONC Centers is being reviewed monthly at the State level through Video Conference in which CDPOs and concerned AWWs are participating along with Health Department Staff in order to avert such deaths in the future.



MGNREGA Scheme

Constrction of 1000 Anganwadi Centres Under MGNREGA Scheme

From the year 2016-17 onwards every year 1000 anganwadi centres @ Rs.7.00 lakh per centre is being constructed in convergence with MGNREGA scheme .

In the current year (2018-19) the cost of construction of AWC building is enhanced to Rs.8.70 lakh per centre.

MGNREGA funds Rs.5.00 lakh, ICDS funds Rs.2.00 lakh and Panchayat/Panchayat Union General Fund Rs.1.70 lakh per centre . Out of Rs.2.00 lakhs of ICDS share GOI share Rs.1.20 lakhs and State Share Rs.0.80 lakhs.



Construction of Toilets to Anganwadi Centre

GOI have allowed a sum of Rs.12,000/- per AWC for construction of Toilet to the Anganwadi Centre. In 3,708 old A WC' s baby friendly Toilets are constructed at the cost of Rs. 38,000 in conveyance with MGNREGA scheme ICDS Rs.26,000 is yet out fores universal, 12,000 is net out from ICDS. These toilets are being constructed in convergence with Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.

2018-19 - 476toilets - Rs. 57.12lakhs



Provision of Korai Mats to Anganwadi Centres

In order to have nap by the children in the anganwadi centres, Korai mats are being provided periodically as the mats gets damaged due to normal wear and tear in one or two years . In the year 2017-18, Each anganwadi centres have been provided with Two Korai Mats at the rate Rs.360/- at the totalcost of Rs.411.55 lakhs for the benefit of 13,35,139 Pre-school Children.



Provision of Mosquito Nets

In order to protect the anganwadi children from the Mosquito bite, all 54439 anganwadi centres was provided with a Mosquito Net@Rs .300 / - per anganwadi centre at a total cost of Rs.160.49 lakh through exclusive state funds.



School Education Department

In order to encourage the parents to send their children to Anganwadi centre, the government of Tamil Nadu has decided to introduce Montessori education based LKG/UKG classes in Anganwadi centre, as a Pilot initiative for 3 years.

2,381 Anganwadi Centers with 52,933 children across be covered under this scheme.



Provision Pre-school Education Kit Items

In order to promote social, emotional, cognitive, motor, and physical development of the child in the tender age, pre-school education is given through play way method to the children in the Anganwadi centres, for which a syllabus is also framed and accordingly pre-school education kit materials are procured and supplied every year at a total cost of Rs.15.59 crores.
