Provision of medicine kits and hygiene kits to anganwadi centres

Each Anganwadi Centre is being provided with Medicine Kit which contains paracetemol tablets/ syrup, ORS packets, povidone iodine ointment, bandage cloth, cotton, Iron Syrup, Deworming tablets, Multivitamin drops and Povidone Iodine solution for the management of common ailments like fever, diarrhea, dressing of wound, skin infections etc.

These medicines are provided to Anganwadi Centres in consultation with State Public Health Department. Proper guidelines on skill, knowledge, expiry date, drug management viz wasting /misuse of drugs, dosage, adverse effects, drug storage to keep out of reach of children have been imparted to the Anganwadi Worker. The procurement and supply of the above medicine to all Anganwadi Centres is done through Tamil Nadu Medical Services Corporation.Children who need further treatment are referred to the nearest PHCs/ Government Hospitals.

Along with the Medicine Kits, Hygiene Kits containing Nail cutter, Comb, soap and Hand Towel have also been provided to all Anganwadi centres to enhance the hygienic status of the children attending Anganwadi and inculcate the practice of Hygiene from their budding stage.




Department of ICDS convergence activities with health and family welfare

Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child health and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) Services

Under this through support from the National Health Mission, the focus is given on universal coverage of Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child Health and Adolescent Health (RMNCH+A) services including institutional delivery, emergency obstetric care, safe abortions, family planning services and adolescent health services in the State in co-ordination with ICDS Department through AWWs in the field level.




National Deworming Day

Biannual Deworming to the Community beneficiaries is being done through the AWWs with the Support of VHNs for reduction of anaemia prevalence by eliminating the worm load in the Community.




Indensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight

Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) consists of a set of activities to be implemented in an intensified manner for prevention and control of deaths due to dehydration from diarrhoea across the State. These activities mainly include- intensification of advocacy & awareness generation activities for diarrhoea management, strengthening service provision for diarrhoea case management, establishment of ORS-Zinc corners, prepositioning of ORS by ASHA/ AWWs/VHNs in households with under-five children and awareness generation activities for hygiene and sanitation.
